Hey friends! Got access to wifi today so I can share an update.
Thank You for Your Prayers
As soon as we got to Restelicë our taxi driver asked a random person where to take us. The person ended up owning a coffee shop, and he took us all there to hang out. Then he called around to find someone who spoke English and he also helped us find a place to stay. Someone in the town owns like a motel or something and we’re staying there. It’s warm and we all have beds, so we’re very grateful!
Restelice is Super Interesting Too
It’s 100% Muslim, and they speak a mix of Italian, German, Macedonian, Serbian, Albaniana, and Bulgarian. I’ve never had to download so many languages in Google translate!
Since it’s 100% Muslim, the men can be wherever they want, but the woman mostly stay in their homes. The women do go on walks and go to the grocery store, so myself and the other women on my team have been doing the same but we’ve been staying away from the coffee shops and other places the men hang out. It’s been interesting to see the men and women live such separate lives, and it’s been fun trying to immerse ourselves in the culture.
Making Friends
It took some time to meet some women, but God made a way a couple days ago. My friend Claran noticed a woman chopping wood outside, and we went to help. She was so happy and surprised. When we finished with the wood, she introduced us to her daughter and sister. Her daughter speaks some English, and we’ve been hanging out with them since. They even took us on a small hike and shared some local sweets with us. They’ve been a huge blessing, and we’re excited to continue building a relationship with them.
Our Ministry
While we will continue building relationships during the day, God has invited my team and I into praying through the night for our village. With the language barrier and how devout they are with their faith, we felt like dreams from Jesus would be the best way to have some doors open to share our faith. So we’re taking shifts throughout the night for these next couple weeks. We’re praying from 10pm to 6am in Kosovo time, which is day time in the US.
If you’d like, you can join us and pray for the people of Restelicë and that Jesus would encounter them in their sleep!
My team is taking shifts, but God’s been asking me to think about staying up the whole night. He wants to use that time to take me even deeper into the secret place, and despite the challenge, I can’t resist His invitation. So that’s what lies ahead for myself and my team. I know it will be hard, but I am so excited to see how God moves.
I’d love to be praying for you in the night too. I created this google form where you can let me know if you have any prayer requests: https://forms.gle/8DjP4PVj5FJxorvf6
Love you all and hope you have a wonderful day!
